The list was jointly published by Stanford University and international academic publisher Elsevier, and is based on comprehensive parameters such as the number of citations, h-index (used to evaluate the quantity and quality of academic output), hm-index adjusted for co-authors, and number of citations of articles as first or corresponding author, reflecting the output and academic influence of scientists. It includes scientists from 22 academic fields and 176 sub-fields who rank in the top 2% globally.
