From March 24th to 26th, 2023, The 3rd National Conference on Soft Soil Engineering was successfully held in Nanjing organized by the Geotechnical Engineering and Geotechnical Engineering Branch of the China Civil Engineering Society, co-sponsored by the Jiangsu Society of Geotechnical Engineering and Southeast University.
More than 700 experts and representatives, including academician Gong Xiaonan from Zhejiang University, Professor Zhang Jianmin from Tsinghua University, Professor Wu Gang from Southeast University, and Professor Huang Maosong, Wang Weidong, Liu Songyu, Wang Ren, Zhang Wei, Zheng Gang, Gao Wensheng, Gao Yufeng, and Xie Yongli, attended the conference. At the opening ceremony, Professor Wu Gang delivered a welcoming speech on behalf of Southeast University, Professor Huang Maosong delivered a speech on behalf of the Soft Soil Engineering Professional Committee, and Academician Zhang Jianmin delivered a speech on behalf of the Soil Engineering and Geotechnical Engineering Branch. The opening ceremony was hosted by professor Liu Songyu.
The conference, themed Intelligent Construction in Soft Soil Engineering, organized 16 invited reports, 24 invited reports in sub-sessions, 66 sub-session reports, and 24 graduate student reports on major soft soil engineering issues, new theories, new technologies, and disciplinary development, demonstrating the latest achievements of China's soft soil engineering field in theoretical innovation and engineering practice.
16 experts including Academician Gong Xiaonan, Professor Huang Maosong, Professor Zheng Gang, Professor Wang Weidong, Professor Song Erxiang, Professor Chen Renpeng, Professor Liu Songyu, Professor Yang Guanghua, Professor Yue Zhongqi, Professor Shen Shuilong, Professor Yang Zhongxuan, Professor Liu Aimin, Professor Zhang Zhongjie, Professor Nian Yankai, Professor Chen Pingshan, and Professor Gong Weiming delivered keynote speeches. The conference promoted cooperation and exchange among experts and scholars in the field of soft soil engineering, sharing new ideas and inspiring new thoughts.
Secretary-General of the Soft Soil Engineering Professional Committee and Professor Liang Fayun from Tongji University presided over the closing ceremony of the conference. The 4th National Soft Soil Engineering Academic Conference will be held in Wuhan in 2024.
