On September 20, the opening ceremony of the 2018-grade CRBC-SEU Pakistani transportation class consisting of 19 Pakistani graduates was held in Jiulonghu campus, where these Pakistani graduates would spend two years living, studying and doing research. Mr.Sun Yaoguo, Chief Engineer of CRBC,Mr.Li Zhihuai, Executive Assistant and General Manager of Pakistani Agency, CRBC, Mr.Zheng Jiamao, deputy Secretary of Communist Party of China(CPC), Mr. Mao Huixi, Dean of CPC Publicity Department, Prof.Liu Pan, Dean of School of Transportation, and other relevant leaders from Graduate School and School of Transportation were present in the opening ceremony. Mrs.Qin Xia, Deputy Secretary of CPC in School of Transportation, hosted the opening ceremony.
Mr.Zheng Jia Mao delivered a speech expressing Internationalcooperation and exchange have becomean increasingly significant duty and Southeast University attaches much more importance to education of foreign graduates and cooperation and exchange with countries along One Belt, One Road(OBOR). He also wished that there would be more Pakistani graduates studying in Southeast University, which would definitely contribute to China-Pakistan friendship and scientific and technological innovation and boost substantial development of transportation engineering and infrastructure construction both in China and Pakistan. These graduates from Pakistan would play a vital role in further and deeper all-round high-end education cooperation between China and Pakistan. Besides, Mr. Zheng hoped that Southeast University, CRBC and Pakistan would cooperate sincerely and tightly to make contribution to structuring of community with shared future for mankind with practical actions.
Mr. Sun Yaoguo, Chief Engineer of CRBC, declaimed that CRBC is one of the four China’s companies entering international contracting market with a high sense of duty and responsibility. Southeast University, as the chosen one for Pakistani graduates, is prestigious for its abundant teaching resources, profound cultural background and there being thousands of qualified graduates spreading all over the world. Mr.Sun also wished that not only would these Pakistani graduates be witness of China-Pakistan friendship, but they would also be disseminators of heart-to-heart connection between people in both countries. Last but not least, they are supposed to play a pivotal role in contributing to eternal China-Pakistan friendship.
Prof. Liu Pan, with 7-year U.S. learning experience, stated that he goal beginning from American Dream to China Dream were all due to dramatic changes taken place in China. He also utilized this experience to motivate these Pakistani graduates to work hard rather than enjoy life in China. Besides, Prof. Liu wished Pakistani graduates should be grateful to their parents, friends and home country and cherish the hard-earned opportunity to improve themselves to the most extent. Moreover, sense of duty and responsibility were supposed to be something buried in their heart and knowledge they gained in China should also be implemented in the days when they come back to Pakistan. Prof.Liu , at last, used a Pakistani fold adage expressing close China-Pakistan friendship hoping that these Pakistani graduates would devote to enhancing China-Pakistan friendship.
Mr. Qumar ul Zaman Bhatti, representative of former batch of Pakistani graduates stated that he, in the past year, learnt rich culture knowledge and professional skill helping them promote their ability of interaction and solving problems. Besides, he also appreciated CRBC and SEU. Mr.Muhammad Ghazanfar Abdullah, representative of new batch of Pakistani graduates, said that China has the most advanced transportation network and they would definitely work hard in the two-year master program.
With the great support from both China and Pakistan ministries of education, under the promotion of Chinese National Development and Reform Commission, China Road & Bridge Corporation (CRBC) developed the project “consolidating the friendship between China and Pakistan, founding hundreds of students to study in China” in 2017. This project will sponsor 100 Pakistan government stuffs, technical workers and excellent graduates to study for master degree in Chinese institutions of higher education during 5 years. In October 2017, SEU and CRBC signed the strategy cooperation agreement, which relies on the “the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road” concept. Under this agreement, SEU and CRBC will cooperate in the fields of engineering student development, academic exchanges and engineering science researches. The first batch of CRBC Pakistan class members, which are of 10 students have already studied in SEU for one year up to now. Through this one-year’s theory study and field internships, those students have governed related knowledge well and laid solid foundations for their academic thesis in the second year. When they go back to Pakistan, they will be able to contribute to the construction of both China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and the friendship between China and Pakistan better.
